The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) set a new record for the most travelers screened in a single day on Friday, May 24, 2024. TSA officers screened 2,951,163 individuals at checkpoints nationwide, surpassing the previous record set on November 26, 2023. This milestone comes as the holiday weekend begins, indicating a significant increase in travel activity. The day before, on Thursday, May 23, TSA officers screened 2.89 million people, marking the second highest screening volume in TSA's history. At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, 111,000 passengers, employees, and crew were screened on May 23, breaking the previous record of 104,174 set after the Super Bowl on February 4, 2019.
