Trump Gains Youth Vote in 2024 Election with R+3 in Michigan and 27-Point Swing
Dec 1, 2024, 11:26 PM
President Donald Trump achieved significant gains among young voters in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, marking a notable shift in voting patterns. According to CNN exit polls, Trump won the youth vote (ages 18-29) in Michigan with 50% compared to Kamala Harris's 47%, a margin of R+3, representing a 27-point swing from 2020 when Joe Biden won this group by a 24-point margin. AP VoteCast data also revealed that more than half of men under 30 supported Trump, a demographic that had favored Biden in the previous election. Additionally, Trump secured a larger proportion of Gen-Z voters than any Republican candidate in nearly two decades, aided by a 9-point swing in his favor. Harris's performance lagged behind Biden's 2020 totals in key states, including Pennsylvania, where she trailed by 35,285 votes, and Michigan, where she fell short by 67,507 votes.
