Trump Vows to Rename North Carolina's Fort Liberty Back to Fort Bragg and Build U.S. Iron Dome
Oct 5, 2024, 12:29 AM
On Friday, former President Donald Trump pledged to rename North Carolina's Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg if he is reelected. Speaking at Fort Liberty, Trump criticized the decision to change the base's name, which previously honored Confederate General Braxton Bragg, known for his reputation as a battlefield failure and as a slave owner. He stated, "I think I just learned the secret to winning absolutely and by massive margins. I'm going to promise to you that we're going to change the name back to Fort Bragg." Additionally, Trump promised to build an Iron Dome defense system in the United States, specifically mentioning North Carolina. He highlighted the effectiveness of Israel's Iron Dome, noting, "It's incredibly effective—287 ballistic missiles fired, and they were all taken down," and questioned why the U.S. shouldn't have such a system, asserting that "it was our technology."
