Trump to 'Act Very Quickly' to Pardon Jan. 6 Defendants on Day One, Says Committee Members Should Go to Jail
Dec 8, 2024, 05:48 PM
President-elect Donald Trump stated in an interview with NBC News' Kristen Welker on 'Meet the Press' that he plans to act on his first day in office to pardon individuals involved in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump said he would "act very quickly" and is "most likely" to issue pardons, noting that he would consider individual cases but emphasized that those incarcerated have been "living in hell" and are in "a filthy, disgusting place that shouldn't even be allowed to be open." He also suggested that some members of the January 6 House committee "should go to jail" but stated he won't seek a special prosecutor for President Biden.
