He noted that Ukraine faces significant challenges, including manpower shortages and a conscription age of 26, in its efforts to counter Russia. Waltz also mentioned that preparations are underway for discussions between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, with a first phone call expected in the coming days, to address the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump, who has criticized the high level of U.S. military aid to Ukraine, has previously expressed optimism about achieving peace within six months of taking office.
