Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence Agree to $275M Extension at $55M/year
Jun 13, 2024, 10:54 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Trevor Lawrence have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $275 million, with $200 million guaranteed and $142 million fully guaranteed at signing. Lawrence will receive a $37.5 million signing bonus. This extension, which averages $55 million per year, ties Lawrence with Joe Burrow as the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL on a per-year basis. Lawrence, who has already made significant achievements in his career, including being fourth all-time in Jaguars history for passing yards (11,770) and passing touchdowns (58), helped lead the team to the AFC South title and a wild-card victory in 2022. The deal reflects the Jaguars' strategy to retain their core players, following a similar extension for linebacker Josh Allen. Lawrence's agent, Jay Courie of MGC Sports, is finalizing the deal, which is expected to be signed by Friday. The extension is seen as a significant benchmark for future quarterback contracts in the NFL.
