Angels Sign Travis d'Arnaud to Two-Year, $12M Deal After 24-Homer Season
Nov 12, 2024, 09:00 PM
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Angels announced the signing of veteran catcher Travis d'Arnaud to a two-year, $12 million contract. The 35-year-old, who will be 36 next season, hit 24 home runs last year—more than any Angel except Taylor Ward—and posted a 103 wRC+. D'Arnaud, a Lakewood High School alumnus, is expected to serve as a backup and mentor to young catcher Logan O'Hoppe, as well as to the team's young pitching staff. The move reflects the Angels' aggressive approach early this offseason. D'Arnaud previously played for the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays, where Angels' general manager Perry Minasian had prior connections.
