Craig Melvin to Succeed Hoda Kotb as 'Today' Co-Anchor with Savannah Guthrie in January 2025
Nov 14, 2024, 02:00 PM
Craig Melvin, a veteran NBC News host and native of South Carolina, will replace Hoda Kotb as co-anchor of NBC's 'Today' show alongside Savannah Guthrie, starting in January 2025. Melvin, who has been with NBC News for nearly 14 years and previously co-anchored the 9 a.m. hour of 'Today,' will now co-anchor the 7 and 8 a.m. hours. The announcement was made on this morning's broadcast, where Al Roker praised Melvin, saying, 'I am so proud and so happy for you right now because you are so worthy of this. I almost don't have the words.' Kotb, who announced in September that she would be leaving 'Today' after nearly two decades, with her final day set for January 10, 2025, told Melvin, 'You were made for this job. You have all the things that this job needs. You're the right person for it.' Melvin expressed his excitement and gratitude for the new role, thanking God.
