Steelers Defeat Giants 26-18 on MNF; Watt's Strip Sack, Wilson Shines, Austin Scores Twice
Oct 29, 2024, 03:11 AM
The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New York Giants 26-18 on Monday Night Football, extending their winning streak to three games and moving to 2-0 with Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback. Wilson completed 20 of 28 passes for 285 total yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Calvin Austin III caught three passes for 54 yards and scored two total touchdowns. Defensive standout T.J. Watt, considered one of the most impactful defensive players in the league, made a pivotal play late in the fourth quarter by recording a sack, strip, and fumble recovery on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, preserving the lead for Pittsburgh. Earlier in the quarter, Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke punched the ball out from Wilson and recovered the fumble, giving the Giants an opportunity to tie the game. However, Jones was intercepted by Beanie Bishop Jr. on the Giants' final drive, sealing the victory for Pittsburgh. The Steelers have now scored 95 points over their last three games, their highest three-game total since 2020.
