A gunman identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to shoot former President Donald Trump during a rally. According to reports from the Associated Press, a local police officer discovered Crooks on a rooftop. When the officer climbed up to confront him, Crooks pointed a rifle at the officer, who then retreated down the ladder. Crooks subsequently fired several shots toward Trump. Secret Service snipers responded by shooting Crooks. Rallygoers had initially alerted the police about a man climbing to the roof shortly before the incident.
