IDF Destroys 1km Hamas Tunnel Under Gaza Homes, Finds Weapons and Equipment
Sep 29, 2024, 10:17 AM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have discovered, mapped, and dismantled an underground tunnel approximately one kilometer long in the central Gaza Strip. The tunnel, embedded beneath residential buildings and civilian spaces and located near the humanitarian corridor, was linked to Hamas operatives. Inside, the IDF found rooms, equipment, and weapons used by Hamas fighters for prolonged stays. The operation, conducted by troops of the 5th Brigade, combat engineers, and elite units over the past couple of weeks, occasionally affected movement in the area. The IDF stated that this effort is part of their ongoing operations to dismantle Hamas and bring hostages home.
