Russia launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv overnight, targeting the Ukrainian capital with swarms of Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drones in an eight-hour assault. Ukrainian air defense forces reported shooting down 74 out of 106 drones, with an additional 25 drones lost due to electronic warfare measures. Debris from the downed drones fell on residential areas across six districts of Kyiv, causing fires and injuring at least two people. In the Pechersk district, drone fragments ignited a fire in an apartment building, prompting evacuations. Explosions were heard throughout the city as air defense systems engaged the incoming drones, which were reportedly flying extremely low near high-rise buildings, complicating interception efforts. Metro stations served as shelters for residents during the attack. The landmark "Jack House" building was among the structures damaged by drone strikes.
