Sudanese Army Advances in Khartoum as Al-Burhan Denounces UAE Support for RSF at UN
Sep 30, 2024, 06:55 AM
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have launched a major offensive to retake Khartoum from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), resulting in intense battles that have caused the ground to shake, resembling the early days of the conflict. Plumes of smoke have been seen over Khartoum and Bahri, with the SAF making significant advances in Bahri. The RSF, which previously fired artillery into Omdurman from Bahri, continues to shell the area from Khartoum, though the intensity has decreased. Sudan's de facto leader, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, in his UN address, implicitly denounced the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for supporting the RSF and stated that there will be no ceasefire unless the RSF surrenders. Meanwhile, tensions have risen with the UAE, as it accused the Sudanese army of bombing its ambassador's residence in Khartoum. The SAF has denied the accusation, rejecting the UAE's claims and blaming the RSF for the attack.
