Uttar Pradesh Orders Culling of Wolves in Bahraich After Attacks Kill 8 Children
Sep 5, 2024, 10:39 AM
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the culling of wolves that have been attacking people, particularly children, in the districts of the Tarai belt. Despite intense searches using drones, infrared cameras, and night vigils, the wolves in Bahraich have managed to evade capture. Over the last two months, these wolves have killed eight children and one adult. The UP Minister has set a 10-day target to catch the wolves. In an attempt to lure the wolves, authorities have used urine-soaked dolls as bait, but these efforts have failed. Sanjay Pathak, General Manager of UP Forest Corporation, suggests that the wolves may be seeking revenge if their homes or children have been harmed. Open and lush fields help the wolves hide, and locals have narrated their encounters with the wolves.
