Former Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma passed away this morning at the age of 89. Inhofe served as Mayor of Tulsa from 1978 to 1984, U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 1st District from 1987 to 1994, and U.S. Senator from 1994 to 2023. He was known for his strong stance against climate change regulations and his dedication to the U.S. military, having chaired the Senate Armed Services Committee and having the 2023 NDAA named after him. Inhofe, who was born in Iowa, passed away peacefully with his wife Kay and family members by his side after a sudden, unexpected illness.
