Dec 28, 2024, 05:26 PM
Yemen's Houthi forces have reportedly shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone, marking the 13th such incident since October 7, 2023. The drone was downed in the Al Bayda Governorate while allegedly conducting operations against Israel. Each MQ-9 Reaper drone is valued at approximately $32 million, bringing the total estimated value of the drones downed by the Houthis to over $400 million. The Yemeni Armed Forces confirmed the incident, stating that the drone was targeted using a locally made surface-to-air missile. While the Houthis claim responsibility for the shoot-down, U.S. officials have not yet verified these reports.
