Hezbollah Allegedly Using Beirut Airport for Iranian Weapons Storage, Ali Hamieh Denies Claims
Jun 23, 2024, 03:03 PM
Reports have emerged alleging that Hezbollah has turned Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport into a military base for storing and transporting Iranian weapons. Whistle-blowers claim that Wafiq Safa, Hezbollah’s second in command, frequently appears at customs, leveraging close ties with airport managers to facilitate these operations. Lebanese airport employees have described feeling like hostages, fearing for their families' safety if they do not comply with Hezbollah's demands. The Lebanese Minister of Transport, Ali Hamieh, has dismissed these allegations as 'ridiculous' and announced plans to file a lawsuit against The British Telegraph for its report. Hamieh is expected to address these claims further in a press conference scheduled for 1800 today.
