Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon has accused Israel of engaging in ethnic cleansing in the northern Gaza Strip. In interviews with Democrat TV and other media outlets, Ya'alon, who also served as IDF Chief of Staff, stated that the current path Israel is taking involves occupation, annexation, and ethnic cleansing, effectively clearing the area of Arabs. He highlighted the destruction of towns like Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun, and ongoing operations in Jabalia aimed at removing the Arab population. Ya'alon, a rightwing hawk, criticized the Israeli government's policies under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing the leadership of leading the country to ruin. He warned of forced displacement and the establishment of Jewish settlements in the area.
