Boris Johnson: Send British Troops to Ukraine, Release $300 Billion Russian Assets
Nov 29, 2024, 12:06 AM
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called for British troops to be sent to Ukraine as part of a multinational European peacekeeping force. In an interview on November 28 with the Telegraph's Ukraine: The Latest podcast, Johnson stated, "I think we should send British troops to Ukraine." He suggested that any potential ceasefire should involve European peacekeepers monitoring the border and assisting Ukraine. Johnson advocated for the release of $300 billion in frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine, questioning, "Why on earth haven't we released them and started using them to protect Ukraine?" He acknowledged that the West is "waging a proxy war" with Russia and criticized the current Labour government for its slow support and delays in delivering weapons such as Storm Shadow missiles. Johnson expressed concern that Britain is no longer seen as Kyiv’s top European ally and believes that the current aid provided is "just crumbs." He emphasized the need for Britain to help define what victory in Ukraine is and urged increased support to prevent further human casualties and suffering.
