U.S. Seizes 32 Russian Websites, Charges RT Employees in 2024 Election Interference Crackdown
Sep 4, 2024, 06:12 PM
The U.S. Justice Department has announced the seizure of 32 websites used by the Russian government in its efforts to influence the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The Biden administration has also announced criminal charges against two employees of Russia's state-run media company RT and imposed sanctions on its top editors. Attorney General Merrick Garland stated that the DoJ will 'aggressively counter' Russian efforts. The State and Treasury departments are also taking enforcement actions, including visa restrictions and additional sanctions against Russian media outlets. The charges include violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and the seized domains were also related to Ukraine.
