Supreme Court to Hear Pleas on Tirupati Laddu Adulteration Controversy Involving Animal Fat
Sep 30, 2024, 03:49 AM
The controversy over the alleged adulteration of Tirupati laddus has escalated, with the Supreme Court set to hear multiple pleas demanding a probe into the matter. The allegations, which include the presence of animal fat in the ghee used for making the laddus, have prompted significant public interest and legal action. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has accused YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's government of using substandard ingredients in the prasadam. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by IGP Sarvashresth Tripathi, has been in Tirumala since September 28, conducting initial meetings and preparing an action plan. The SIT team is staying at the Padmavathi Guest House. Petitions have been filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and YV Subba Reddy, a Rajya Sabha MP from the YSR Congress Party and former chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), both demanding a court-monitored probe.
