19-Year-Old Chinese Student's Illegal Vote in Michigan Will Count Despite Charges
Oct 30, 2024, 07:22 PM
A 19-year-old Chinese student at the University of Michigan allegedly voted early on Sunday in Ann Arbor, despite not being a U.S. citizen. The student registered to vote by signing a document confirming he is a U.S. citizen and is now facing two criminal charges. The student was caught after he contacted the county clerk in an attempt to retrieve his ballot. Despite the illegal vote, his ballot is expected to count because there is no mechanism for election officials to retrieve it after it has been tabulated. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's office has not released the student's name.
