VisitDKV Withdraws from Muface, Leaving Asisa as Sole Potential Insurer for 1.53 Million Civil Servants Amid 33.5% Premium Increase
Jan 9, 2025, 10:14 AM
DKV has announced its withdrawal from the Muface healthcare program for Spanish civil servants, joining Adeslas in rejecting the government's latest tender offer. The decision leaves Asisa as the sole potential insurer for the 1.53 million civil servants and their families covered by Muface. DKV cited the program's underfunding as a reason for its withdrawal, stating that it had incurred losses of over 70 million euros in the last year and projected further losses of between 70 and 100 million euros if it continued. The company criticized the proposed premium increase of 33.5% over three years as insufficient to balance income and expenses. Asisa is currently evaluating whether it can feasibly take on the entire Muface business, which amounts to approximately 4,500 million euros over three years. The government is in urgent discussions with Asisa to find a solution to maintain the program.
