Sep 27, 2024, 04:08 PM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a major airstrike targeting Hezbollah's central headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday. The strike aimed at the group's main command and control center situated beneath residential buildings in the Dahiyeh suburb. IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari confirmed that the operation was a precise strike intended to neutralize Hezbollah's leadership, including its leader Hassan Nasrallah. Multiple sources indicate that the airstrike flattened six buildings and caused massive explosions in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The IDF is currently investigating whether Nasrallah was present at the headquarters during the attack. According to a senior U.S. official, Nasrallah and some of his aides were reportedly in Beirut for a short visit at the time of the strike.
