Judge Rejects SEC Sanctions Against Elon Musk, Who Skipped Testimony to Watch Rocket Launch
Nov 23, 2024, 04:38 AM
A US federal judge, Jacqueline Scott Corley, has rejected the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) request to sanction Elon Musk after he failed to appear for court-ordered testimony related to the regulator's probe into his $44 billion takeover of Twitter (now known as X). Musk had skipped the SEC meeting to watch one of his rockets launch but later reimbursed the SEC for expenses and agreed to meet with the commission's lawyers in October. Judge Corley deemed sanctions unnecessary following Musk's compliance. The SEC is investigating whether Musk violated securities laws in connection with his acquisition of Twitter.
