Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are set to meet in Moscow on January 17 to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, the Kremlin announced on Monday. The treaty, consisting of 47 articles covering all areas of bilateral cooperation, aims to enhance ties between Russia and Iran in trade, investment, transport, logistics, defense, and security. According to Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali, the agreement encompasses extensive cooperation and is an updated text of a previous agreement between the two nations. Before visiting Russia, President Pezeshkian will travel to Tajikistan on a state visit. After their talks, Putin and Pezeshkian will make statements to the media. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described the upcoming visit as "very important." The treaty is expected to solidify the growing military and political partnership between Moscow and Tehran amid rising tensions with the West.
