Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula Experiences Sixth Volcanic Eruption in a Year

A new volcanic eruption has occurred on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, near the capital Reykjavik, affecting the nearby area of Grindavik. This marks the sixth time in a year that lava has emerged in the area. Seismic activity was recorded at 8:48 p.m. before the eruption began at 9:26 p.m. east of Sundhnjúk, with a fissure approximately 1.5 kilometers long. The eruption is characterized by seismic activity and magma flow, similar to the previous two eruptions. Authorities have initiated evacuations in nearby areas as a precautionary measure. The eruption has resulted in the spewing of lava fountains and the opening of an enormous geyser, sending molten ash and fire into the sky.
