U.S. and International Teams Achieve Historic 5-0 Sweeps, Tied 5-5 in Presidents Cup
Sep 27, 2024, 09:41 PM
The 2024 Presidents Cup saw an unprecedented turn of events as both the U.S. and International teams achieved back-to-back sweeps in the opening two days of the competition. On Day 1, the U.S. team dominated the four-ball matches, winning all five and taking a 5-0 lead. This marked the fifth time in the event's 30-year history that a team has swept a round, and the first since the U.S. achieved the feat in 2007. However, the International team made a remarkable comeback on Day 2, sweeping the foursomes matches 5-0, tying the overall score at 5-5. This is the first time in Presidents Cup history that both teams have swept sessions on consecutive days, and the first time there have been multiple shutout rounds. The competition is now evenly poised as it heads into the weekend in Montreal.
