Ex-Clark County Democrat Robert Telles Sentenced to Life with 28-Year Minimum for Journalist's Murder
Oct 16, 2024, 05:09 PM
Former Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles was sentenced on Wednesday to life in prison with the possibility of parole after serving at least 28 years, following his conviction for the 2022 murder of Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter Jeff German. Telles, a Democratic elected official who lost his 2022 re-election bid, was found guilty by a jury in August of fatally stabbing German after the reporter wrote critical articles about his conduct in office, including revelations of an intimate relationship with a female coworker and turmoil within his department. The judge added eight years to the minimum 20-year sentence due to enhancements for the use of a deadly weapon and because German was a senior citizen aged 69.
