Randy Gregory Sues NFL, Broncos Over $500K Synthetic THC Fines, Alleges Discrimination
Jun 7, 2024, 04:45 PM
Former Broncos outside linebacker Randy Gregory has filed a lawsuit against the NFL and the Denver Broncos, alleging disability and employment discrimination and seeking repayment of over $500,000 in fines for using synthetic THC. Gregory, who now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, claims that the fines, totaling $532,500, were unjust as the THC was prescribed by his physician to manage social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). His agent, Peter Schaffer, emphasized that the fines were issued by the NFL and not the Broncos, although the team is named in the lawsuit. Schaffer argues that Gregory's use of THC should be considered a reasonable accommodation for his disabilities, especially given that marijuana is legal in the state where he was prescribed the medication.
