This move comes in the wake of the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, marking a significant shift in the governance of Syria's security apparatus. Khattab emphasized that the restructuring aims to align the security institutions with the history, struggles, and legacy of the Syrian people, who have suffered under the oppression of the former regime for over 50 years.
