Azerbaijan held a snap parliamentary election on Sunday, the first since regaining full control of Nagorno-Karabakh. The election is expected to maintain the dominance of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, led by President Ilham Aliyev. Approximately 7 million voters were registered to vote for 125 seats in the Milli Majlis, with 990 candidates participating. Exit polls and preliminary results indicate that the New Azerbaijan Party is set to secure a majority, winning at least 62 seats. Non-partisan candidates are projected to take 43 seats, while the remaining seats are expected to be filled by small pro-government parties. The Central Election Commission reported these results after processing data from 91% of polling stations.
