Royce Lewis Sets Home Run Record with 24 HR; Twins Lead 3-0
Jun 16, 2024, 11:57 PM
Royce Lewis has set a remarkable record in Minnesota Twins history by hitting 23 home runs in his first 81 career games, surpassing previous records held by Miguel Sanó, Kent Hrbek, and Justin Morneau. Additionally, Lewis has hit four home runs in six playoff games. In the current season, he has already hit seven home runs in just 39 at-bats, making it his 12th game of the season. Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis recently hit back-to-back home runs, giving the Twins a 3-0 lead. Lewis' 24 home runs are four more than any other player in Twins/Senators history in their first 82 career games. Only Nelson Cruz has more home runs in his first 82 games with the franchise, with 30. Yordan Alvarez and Ryan Braun are the only MLB hitters with more home runs and a higher batting average than Lewis through 82 career games. Other Twins home run leaders this season include Ryan Jeffers with 12 in 206 at-bats, Carlos Santana with 11 in 223, and Edouard Julien with 7 in 169.
