In July 2024, more than $35 million from the $305 million hack of Japanese exchange DMM Bitcoin has been laundered through the online marketplace Huione Guarantee. The hack, which occurred in May, has been linked to the notorious Lazarus Group, a North Korean cybercrime syndicate known for its sophisticated maneuvers. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT reported the laundering activities, and PeckShieldAlert noted that a hacker-labeled address transferred 500 BTC, worth approximately $31.5 million, to a new address.
