India and Tripura Sign Peace Pact with Insurgent Groups, Ending 35-Year Conflict

The Government of India and the Government of Tripura have signed a Memorandum of Settlement with the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) to end violence in the state. The agreement, signed in New Delhi at 2:30 PM in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, marks the end of a 35-year-long insurgency. Amit Shah highlighted that this is the 12th agreement for the northeast and the third related to Tripura, with around 10,000 insurgents having surrendered. The peace pact aims to foster an atmosphere of peace, prosperity, and goodwill in the entire northeast region.
