Ethics Committee Won't Release Gaetz Report Amid Attorney General Nomination
Nov 20, 2024, 01:13 PM
Following former Rep. Matt Gaetz's resignation from Congress, the House Ethics Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss whether to release a report on its investigation into him. Gaetz has been nominated by President-elect Trump to serve as Attorney General, increasing the urgency of the report's release. There is mounting pressure from House Democrats to make the report public, with nearly 100 members, led by Rep. Sean Casten, signing a letter urging the committee to release the findings to the public and the Senate. Rep. Susan Wild, the top Democrat on the committee, has read the report and believes it should be released. Despite the pressure, after a two-hour closed-door meeting, Committee Chairman Michael Guest stated that there was no agreement to release the report.
