The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has initiated the first recruitment cycle for its new ultra-Orthodox brigade, known as the Hasmonean Brigade, on January 5, 2025. Approximately 50 ultra-Orthodox soldiers have been drafted and will form the core of the brigade's inaugural company. In addition to these recruits, another 100 older ultra-Orthodox men are also being enlisted into the brigade.
