VisitGreece Bans Movement of Sheep and Goats Amid 'Goat Plague' Outbreak; 8,000 Animals Culled
Jul 29, 2024, 03:25 PM
Greece has banned the movement of sheep and goats from their farms to contain a viral infection known as 'goat plague' (PPR), which is highly contagious among these animals. The outbreak, first detected in Thessaly, has led to the culling of over 8,000 animals and the testing of more than 200,000. The ban aims to prevent further spread of the disease after new cases were detected over the weekend.
