Aug 23, 2024, 11:56 AM
The Metropolitan Police have concluded their investigation into the election date betting scandal without filing any charges. The probe involved several police officers, including Rishi Sunak's close protection officer, who were investigated for misconduct in a public office over bets placed on the general election date. Despite the closure of the police investigation, the Gambling Commission will continue to examine the allegations. Political figures who were involved in betting on the election date will also not face police charges as the cases have been passed to the Gambling Commission for further investigation.
