Texas to Lease 1,400 Acres for 'Jocelyn Initiative' Deportation Facilities Starting Day 1
Nov 26, 2024, 05:41 PM
Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced the acquisition of 1,400 acres of land in Starr County, obtained in October, to be offered to the federal government for the construction of deportation facilities targeting violent criminals. The initiative, named the 'Jocelyn Initiative' after 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray who was raped and murdered by two illegal immigrants, aims to facilitate mass deportations starting on the first day of President Trump's potential second term. A section of the border wall was installed in honor of Jocelyn, with her family present during the ceremony. Buckingham stated, 'We are proudly offering this land to President Trump's administration to help facilitate the largest deportation operation in history.' The state is preparing land for these facilities and plans to offer several more tracts for this purpose. The land will be leased under Buckingham's jurisdiction.
