FCC Chair Condemns Trump's CBS License Threat Over Harris Interview as 'Threats Against Free Speech'
Oct 11, 2024, 08:19 PM
Former President Donald Trump has called for CBS to lose its broadcast license over a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing the network of creating 'the greatest fraud in broadcast history.' He suggested that not only CBS but 'all other broadcast licenses' should be bid out to the highest bidder. Trump claimed that CBS edited Harris's interview to make her answers appear more concise, labeling it as 'election interference' and stating, '60 Minutes should be taken off the air.' He added, 'CBS gets a license, and the license is based on honesty. I think they have to take their license away.' In response, FCC Chairwoman condemned Trump's calls as 'threats against free speech,' defending the network and rejecting his demands to revoke CBS's license. This marks the second time this week she has defended broadcasters against Trump's criticism.
