VisitLinkedIn Uses User Data to Train AI Models by Default, Including Microsoft and OpenAI
Sep 18, 2024, 03:01 PM
LinkedIn has recently updated its AI training policy, enabling the use of user data to train AI models by default. This policy, which was updated 7 days ago, allows LinkedIn, Microsoft, and OpenAI to utilize user data without explicit user consent. The company has confirmed that it is training AI on user data before updating its terms of service to reflect this practice. Users have noticed a new setting regarding generative AI, and LinkedIn has stated that it will update its terms of service shortly. LinkedIn also mentioned that users who have specific privacy preferences can opt out of this data usage. This move has raised privacy concerns among LinkedIn's 800 million users. Meta and X have been called out for similar practices. LinkedIn users in the US have an opt-out option, but this is not available to users in the EU, EEA, or Switzerland.
