House Committee's 300-Page Report: Universities Violated Title VI, Failed to Protect Jewish Students from Antisemitism
Oct 31, 2024, 06:17 PM
The House Education and Workforce Committee has released a comprehensive 300-page report detailing how U.S. colleges and universities have failed to protect Jewish students from antisemitism on campus. The report, which spans 100 pages, highlights that university leaders often viewed antisemitism as a public relations issue rather than a serious campus problem. It also reveals that many universities made concessions to pro-Palestinian protest organizers and did not provide adequate support for Jewish students. The committee's findings indicate a violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has assured Jewish leaders that he will work to pass a bill aimed at curbing antisemitism on college campuses. This follows the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which passed the House in May but has yet to be brought up in the Senate.
