Nov 17, 2024, 07:12 PM
A deadly E. coli outbreak, linked to organic carrots supplied by Grimmway Farms of Bakersfield, California, has sickened 39 people across 18 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a warning to consumers to check their homes for recalled bagged organic carrots and to dispose of them. The recall involves multiple retailers including Walmart, Target, Publix, Kroger, Albertsons, Food Lion, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts. One death has been reported due to the outbreak. Carrots currently on store shelves are not affected by the recall. The CDC, in collaboration with the FDA and state and local partners, is investigating the outbreak of Shiga toxin producing E. coli O121:H9 infections.
