June Spencer, the actress who played matriarch Peggy Woolley in BBC Radio 4's 'The Archers' for more than 70 years, has died aged 105, the BBC has announced. Spencer was the last original cast member of the long-running drama, having portrayed Peggy from 1951 until her retirement in 2022. Tributes have been pouring in following the announcement of her passing.
