Hans Zimmer's score for 'Dune: Part Two,' directed by Denis Villeneuve, has been disqualified from Oscar consideration for the 2025 Academy Awards. The score was ruled ineligible because it exceeded the Academy's limit on pre-existing music, which requires that no more than 20% of the score can be derived from previous works in the franchise. This decision means that 'Dune: Part Two' cannot compete in the Best Original Score category.
