Tesla's Cybertruck Registers as 'CTTM' in China, Completes MIIT Filing for Market Entry
Dec 11, 2024, 11:28 AM
Tesla Inc.'s Cybertruck has completed the energy consumption declaration with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) under the model code "CTTM," according to multiple reports on December 11, 2024. This development suggests that Tesla may be preparing to introduce the Cybertruck to the Chinese market, with the vehicle receiving an energy consumption label—a necessary step before sales can commence in China. The potential entry of the Cybertruck into China comes as Tesla continues to see strong performance in the country. In November, Tesla sold over 73,000 electric vehicles in China, marking its best month of 2024 in the market. The Model Y remains China's best-selling passenger vehicle over the past year. In the first week of December, Tesla sold 21,900 electric vehicles in China, its strongest weekly performance of the fourth quarter. China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market has been growing rapidly. NEV sales surpassed 40 percent of all auto sales for the first time during the January-November period, reaching a new milestone, according to industry data.
