Amit Yoran, the CEO and chairman of cybersecurity company Tenable, passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 54 after a battle with cancer. Yoran, who took a medical leave of absence on December 5, had been leading Tenable since 2016 and guided the company through its initial public offering in 2018. Prior to Tenable, he served as president of RSA Security and was the founding CEO of NetWitness. Yoran also held the position of National Cybersecurity Director at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2004. In the wake of his death, Tenable's Chief Financial Officer Steve Vintz and Chief Operating Officer Mark Thurmond have been appointed as co-CEOs while the company searches for a permanent replacement. Art Coviello, Tenable's lead independent director, praised Yoran's leadership and vision, noting that his legacy would continue to influence the company.
