After Coaching High School to State Title, Teddy Bridgewater Comes Out of Retirement to Rejoin Lions
Dec 26, 2024, 06:20 PM
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is coming out of retirement to sign with the Detroit Lions, as confirmed by head coach Dan Campbell. Bridgewater, 32, recently led his high school alma mater, Miami Northwestern High School, to a state championship. Campbell stated that he has been in contact with Bridgewater for a while and that the veteran quarterback brings a level of professionalism, comfort, and veteran presence to the team, which will be beneficial for their playoff push. The Lions emphasized that the signing is not due to disappointment with backup quarterback Hendon Hooker but rather to add depth and experience to the roster. Bridgewater spent the 2023 season with the Lions before retiring and had received NFL assistant coaching inquiries before deciding to return as a player.
