The Attorney General for Washington, D.C., Brian Schwalb, has filed a lawsuit against StubHub on Wednesday, accusing the ticket resale platform of deceptive pricing practices. The lawsuit alleges that StubHub advertises artificially low ticket prices and then increases these prices with hidden fees during the checkout process, a tactic known as 'drip pricing.' According to the lawsuit, since 2015, StubHub has sold over 5.5 million tickets in the district, extracting approximately $118 million in hidden and junk fees from consumers. The lawsuit claims that StubHub's practices violate the district's Consumer Protection Procedures Act by failing to provide clear and accurate information about ticket fees and how they are calculated.
